Know who is lying
It is difficult sometimes to know who is lying, especially if you want to believe them.
If any of the following is true, it doesn’t mean what you are hearing is a lie. It is more like a rating system in your head. The more you see, the more skeptical you should be.
Look for the financial incentives to lie
- The greatest incentives for someone to lie is for financial gain or power.
- The best indicator from con artists is that they keep asking for money for the lie and the problem is never solved.
- For a media personality, a cable news or radio host, look at their message. If they constantly make you angry against someone or some thing and it increases their viewership which makes them more money .. beware.
Look at the person
- When someone tells small lies or cheats on little things they are most likely lying to you on important things and cheating you when they can. This does not include a white lie so as not to hurt your feelings.
- Evoking the name of God has been for thousands of year the easiest way for liars and manipulators to fool you. Hold people like this to a higher standard in every aspect of their life. If there are glaring lapses in their faith, again beware.
- The Flag of your country is also a vulnerability of good honest people and used throughout history to fool.
Liars often overemphasize trustworthiness
- “Believe me”
- “To be completely transparent with you”
- “To be honest with you”
- “To tell you the truth”
