Know yourself
We all want to trust people we like but in this world it could be devastating when we are wrong. The following questions can reveal how susceptible we actually are.
Examine your own bias based on personal experience
If something bad happened to your family’s small business due a Government regulation then you are more likely to believe a lie about all levels of Government local, State & Federal. This can make you an easy target of a lie.
Examine your own bias based on wishful thinking
If you have a good job in a particular industry and the world is no longer using what your company makes or a foreign country is making it for half the price, a politician promising to save your job is just lying. The increase in sales is the only thing that will keep your job safe. There are things politicians can do to save jobs but “How many blacksmiths are working today?”
Examine your own bias based on denial
The best example is if someone told you your spouse is having an affair and because of all the pain believing it might cause, you choose to not believe it.
